What is RICABIB?

RICABIB (Open Access Institutional Digital Repository of the Centro Atómico Bariloche and Instituto Balseiro) is an open access digital collection of the scientific and technological research outputs of the Centro Atómico Bariloche and Instituto Balseiro (CAB-IB) developed by the Leo Falicov Library to centralize, preserve, disseminate and make known the scholarly works of students and researchers.

RICABIB is part of a major global system of distributed linked repositories, based on the OAI (Open Access Initiative) protocol, providing the foundation for a new model of scientific communication.

The site is powered by EPrints 3, free open source software, developed by the University of Southampton.

What documents can be found in RICABIB?

The contents covers all the fields of research carried out in the institution and published in various types of documents, such as: journal articles, book chapters, working documents, conference documents, theses, courseware, datasets and any other unique full text digital document.

Purpose

The repository was launched in May 2010 to maximise visibility, accessibility and impact of the institution\u2019s research outputs, providing the necessary infrastructure, service and support.

  • To be a digital archive where researchers, academics and students can deposit their research outputs.
  • To encourage scholarly communication.
  • To increase exponentialy the impact of open access research results, adding to the institution\u2019s prestige.
  • To preserve digital materials for the long term.
  • The Leo Falicov library, asumes the responsibility, of the long term preservation of digital materials, updating software and migrating formats when necessary.
